Six criminal cases were continued recently in Edgar County Circuit Court for what the docket entries referred to as COVID restrictions or fever.

Those continued cases involved the following defendants:

-Jada Abernathy, 32, Paris, for an unresolved Class 3 felony possession of methamphetamine charge. A pretrial conference was scheduled.

-Tucker S. Brock, 19, Fairmount, for an unresolved Class A misdemeanor false reporting charge. A pretrial conference was set.

-Angelina D. Cianfaglione, 37, Paris, for an unresolved Class A misdemeanor domestic battery charge and a Class A misdemeanor violating a bail bond charge. A pretrial conference was set.

-Steven J. Gann, 46, Paris, for an unresolved Class 3 felony possession of methamphetamine charge. A pretrial conference was scheduled.

-Paul E. Gilbert, 39, Paris, for an unresolved Class A misdemeanor driving on a suspended license. A pretrial conference was scheduled.

-Amanda J. Smith, 39, Hume, was present in the courthouse hall with a fever. Her Class A misdemeanor domestic battery conviction was continued for a pretrial conference.

The following people were among those appearing for the Feb. 8 and Feb. 11 criminal and traffic call in Edgar County Circuit Court:

 

In custody

-Dusty D. Boots, 40, Decatur, appeared in custody. He was charged with a Class 3 felony aggravated battery and a Class A misdemeanor battery. The public defender was appointed, and bond was set at $5,000. The matter was continued for the preliminary hearing. Boots was ordered to have no contact with the apparent victim. He was remanded to custody pending posting of bond.

-Keith A. Gosnell, 35, Paris, appeared in custody. His unresolved charges of three counts of a Class 2 felony burglary, three counts of a Class 3 felony possession of methamphetamine, a Class 4 felony possession of burglary tools, a Class A misdemeanor theft, a Class A misdemeanor unlawful use of weapons by a felon, a Class A misdemeanor possession of a hypodermic syringe were continued for a pretrial conference.

In another matter Gosnell, acting as his own attorney, was denied a motion for a continuance. He pleaded not guilty with a jury trial demand to a Class 2 felony burglary, a Class 3 felony possession of methamphetamine, a Class 4 felony possession of burglary tools and a Class 4 felony criminal damage to property. A pretrial conference was scheduled.

In his most recent case, Gosnell pleaded not guilty with a jury trial demand to a Class 2 felony burglary and a Class 4 felony possession of burglary tools charges. The matter was continued for a pretrial conference. Gosnell was remanded to custody pending posting of bond.

-Guy A. Murphy, 51, Mattoon, appeared in custody. He was charged with two counts of a Class 4 felony aggravated fleeing from police. The public defender was appointed. The matter was continued for the preliminary hearing. He was remanded to custody pending posting of bond.

-Dalton L. Newman, 25, Paris, was in custody and charged with a Class A misdemeanor domestic battery. The public defender was appointed. Bond was set at $3,000 and his oral motion for a bond reduction was denied. The matter was continued for a first appearance with counsel. His bond conditions include he is to have no contact with the apparent victim or the victim’s residence. He was remanded to custody pending posting of bond.

 

Charges

-Robin M. Brooks, 45, Paris, was charged with a Class A misdemeanor driving on a suspended license. The public defender was appointed. She pleaded not guilty with a jury
