A rural Paris man was discovered dead in his residence Thursday afternoon, according to Edgar County Coroner Scott Barrett.
Barrett said 911 dispatchers were alerted at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, January 7, that the family of a male subject had arrived at his residence and found him unresponsive. The family immediately called 911.
Upon arrival, the Edgar County Sheriff’s Department determined it was necessary to summon the coroner.
Ronald Shane Thomas, 51, of Paris was pronounced dead at the scene by Edgar County Coroner Scott Barrett.
The incident remains under investigation by the Edgar County Coroner and the Edgar County Sheriff’s Department. All evidence currently available is consistent with a suicidal death.
