Deer poacher is fined $600 by local court

Illegal hunting cost a northern Illinois resident more than $600 in fines and costs.

Robert E. Trotter, 44, Belleville, entered a negotiated guilty plea Jan. 16 to a Class B misdemeanor unlawful harvest of a deer and a Class B misdemeanor deer hunting without a permit and was sentenced to a $300 fine, court costs and various state fees. In exchange for the guilty plea, the state dismissed a second Class B misdemeanor unlawful harvest of a deer charge.

Other individuals appearing before the bench for the Jan. 13 and Jan. 16 traffic and criminal calls in Edgar County Circuit Court included:

 

In custody

-Logan J. Biddle, 18, Paris, appeared in custody, waived the preliminary hearing and pleaded not guilty with a jury trial demand to a Class 2 felony possession of methamphetamine, a Class 3 felony possession of methamphetamine and a Class A misdemeanor possession of a hypodermic syringe. Bond was reduced to $4,000 from the original bond of $5,000. The matter was continued for a pretrial conference. Biddle was remanded to custody pending posting of bond.

-Evan T. Chestnut, 24, West Terre Haute, Ind., appeared in custody for missing a previous court appearance. His unresolved charges of two counts of a Class A misdemeanor driving under the influence of alcohol, and a Class A misdemeanor driving on a suspended license charges were continued for a pretrial conference. He was remanded to custody pending posting of bond.

-Jacob A. Coe, 42, Terre Haute, Ind., appeared in custody on a warrant for missing a previous court appearance. His unresolved charges of two counts of a Class 3 felony possession of methamphetamine, a Class 3 felony aggravated battery, a Class 4 felony possession of a hypodermic syringe, a Class A misdemeanor resisting a police officer, a Class A misdemeanor battery and a Class C misdemeanor disorderly conduct were continued for a pretrial conference. Coe was remanded to custody pending posting of bond.

-Kevin M. Flight, 39, Danville, appeared in custody for missing a previous court appearance. His unresolved Class 3 felony retail theft charge was continued for a pretrial conference. He was remanded to custody pending posting of bond.

-Dillon R. Manhart, 22, Effingham, appeared in court on a warrant for missing a previous court appearance. His Class A misdemeanor domestic battery conviction was continued for a jail status review hearing. Manhart was granted a personal recognizance bond and remanded to custody pending release processing.

-Alec R. Mockbee, 21, Danville, appeared in custody for missing a previous court appearance. A negotiated guilty plea was set for his unresolved charge of a Class 3 felony theft. He was remanded to custody pending posting of bond.

-Colly W. Thomas, 39, Paris, appeared in custody for missing a previous court appearance. His unresolved Class 4 felony aggravated driving while license is revoke and a Class A misdemeanor domestic battery charges were continued for a pretrial conference. In another matter, Thomas persisted in hiring an attorney for his unresolved charges of a Class 3 felony possession of methamphetamine, a Class 4 felony aggravated driving while license is revoked, a Class A misdemeanor interfering with the reporting of a domestic violence call, a Class A misdemeanor driving on a revoked license and a Class A misdemeanor domestic battery. The matter was continued for a pretrial conference. He was remanded to custody pending posting of bond.

 

Charges

-Cody L. Smith, 30, Newman, was charged with a Class 2 felony aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol. He hired an attorney and the matter was continued for the preliminary hearing.

-Phyllis L. Stonebraker, no age provided, Paris, was charged with a Class 4 felony aggravated driving while license is revoked, a Class B misdemeanor speeding and a Class B misdemeanor operating a motor vehicle while registration is suspended.  The public defender was appointed and the matter was continued for the preliminary hearing.

-Britany N. Zimmerman, 39, Charleston, was presented with a petition to revoke her conditional discharge sentence for a Class A misdemeanor driving under the influence of alcohol conviction. The public defender was appointed and matter continued for a first appearance with counsel.

 

Guilty pleas

-Brenda M. Walker, 20, Brocton, pleaded guilty to a Class A misdemeanor theft charge and was sentenced to one year of court supervision, a $300 fine, court costs and various state fees. She was ordered to have no contact with Paris Wal-Mart.

-Jeffery D. Wardle, 36, Paris, pleaded guilty to a Class A misdemeanor driving under the influence of alcohol and was sentenced to two years of court supervision, a $750 fine, court costs, various state fees and an order to obtain counseling per an evaluation.

In exchange for the guilty plea, the state dismissed a second DUI charge. 

 

Not guilty pleas

-Connie S. Alley, 49, Metcalf, pleaded not guilty with a jury trial demand to two counts of a Class A misdemeanor driving under the influence of alcohol, a Class A misdemeanor driving on a suspended license and a Class B misdemeanor speeding charges. The matter was continued for a pretrial conference.

-Frankie L. Deweese, 50, Paris, pleaded not guilty with a jury trial demand to a Class A misdemeanor driving under the influence of alcohol charge. The matter was continued for a pretrial conference.

-Bret D. Jeffries, 27, Rosedale, Ind., pleaded not guilty with a jury trial demand to a Class A misdemeanor driving on a suspended license. A pretrial conference was scheduled.

-Dalton C. Lewis, 28, Paris, pleaded not guilty with a jury trial demand to a Class A misdemeanor driving on a revoked license charge. The matter was continued for a pretrial conference.

-Tracy E. Luster, 49, Brocton, pleaded not guilty with a jury trial demand to a Class A misdemeanor violating a bail bond. The matter was continued for a pretrial conference.

νJustin M. May, 32, Paris, pleaded not guilty with a jury trial demand to two counts of a Class 4 felony aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol and two counts of a Class A misdemeanor driving under the influence of alcohol charges. The matter was continued for a pretrial conference.

-Lindsey Siebert, no age or address provided, pleaded not guilty with a jury trial demand to a Class A misdemeanor retail theft charge. A pretrial conference was scheduled.

-Bailey T. Timmer, 23, Paris, pleaded not guilty with a jury trial demand to two counts of a Class 3 felony possession of methamphetamine charge. The matter was continued for a pretrial conference.

-Karlie R. Timmerman, 26, Paris, pleaded not guilty with a jury trial demand to a Class A misdemeanor domestic battery, a Class A misdemeanor resisting a police officer and a Class C misdemeanor disorderly conduct charges. The matter was continued for a pretrial conference.

 

Other Matters

-Ethan A. Cox, 19, Paris, learned the state dismissed his Class A misdemeanor reckless driving charge. The case was closed.

-Jacob D. Pardi, 26, Paris, completed his community service work for a Class 4 felony possession of a controlled substance conviction. His first offender probation was terminated and the case was closed.

-Eric R. Thomas, 43, Paris, paid his fine and cost in full for his Class A misdemeanor theft conviction. His jail sentence was quashed, and the case was closed.
