Edgar E. Arrasmith, 81, of Paris, passed away at 8:05 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 2, 2017, at his residence. He was a stocker for Wal-Mart.
A funeral service is 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 8, at Stewart and Carroll Funeral Home. Burial follows in Edgar Cemetery. Visitation is from noon until the 1 p.m. service Wednesday at the funeral home.
Mr. Arrasmith was born Oct. 8, 1936, in Edgar County, the son of the late Glenn and Gertrude Campbell Arrasmith.
Survivors include six siblings, Virginia Throneburg, Alice Gordon, Kay Boren, Karen Sue Wood and Linda Ellingsworth, all of Paris and Kathy Maxwell of Kentucky; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by five siblings, Betty Cataldo, Robert Arrasmith, Barbara Booker, Larry Arrasmith and Jerry Arrasmith.
Mr. Arrasmith was a veteran of the Illinois National Guard 130th Infantry formerly based in Paris. He was an avid coin and stamp collector and also collected replicas of cars. He enjoyed walking, talking and he never knew a stranger.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association or a charity of the donor’s choice.
