Edgar County celebrates 200 years

Edgar County turns 200 this year and The Edgar County Bicentennial Celebration commences 5:30 p.m. Thursday, June 15, and end with a community dinner 6 p.m., Sunday June 18.

The celebration includes a golf outing and meal at Eagle Ridge. Teams of four gather at 11:30 a.m. where they will enjoy a meal before teeing off in a best ball tournament on the beautiful Eagle Ridge Golf Course at 12:30 p.m.

Another event is the Black-Tie Event at Lot 50 Brewery Friday evening. Edgar County residents can take the opportunity to dress to the nines and join in a fun filled evening where anyone can meet the mayors of the different villages in Edgar County. Tickets are only available while they last.

Then there is the Road Rally. Saturday afternoon carloads of teams meet in the St. Mary’s Church Parking lot before taking to the road in hopes of answer riddles that will lead them to several county historical locations. With at least seven but possibly eight stops the rally will a true testament to county knowledge.

The celebration ends with a community dinner for all. Tickets can be purchased for $8.00 a person. Food is being provided by Grid Iron gang, KBG Deli, GW’s Tiger Market and Rocky’s Italian Bistro. When the meal is finished information on items that will be locked in a time capsule will be discussed. The capsule will be set to be reopen at the County’s Sestercentennial in 2073.

Thursday, June 15

5:30 – 7 p.m. Foam party and water balloon fight at the east lake

6 p.m. Canvas Class under the Prospect Bank Tent on the north end of the square

6:30 p.m. Music at the west lake featuring Sound City

7 p.m. Special Edgar County Edition Trivia Night at Lot 50

7 – 10 p.m. Sip and Skate at the Skating Rink at Twin Lakes (Adults Only)

At dusk is a free movie near the Kiwanis pavilion at the east lake

Friday, June 16

9:30 – 11:30 a.m. Children’s activity tent with Lakeridge Church

11 a.m. – 7 p.m. Food trucks around the square

10 a.m. – 7 p.m. Craft vendors around the square

11:30 a.m. Meal for golf outing begins with tee off at 12:30 p.m.

12:30 – 3 p.m. Children’s activity tent with Lakeridge Church

12 p.m. – midnight Beer tent on East Court Street with D.J. Bernie from 7 p.m. ­– midnight

5 – 7 p.m. Glow night with Paris Bowling Alley

Saturday, June 17

7:30 a.m. Color Fun Run with The Rec

9:30 – 11:30 a.m. Children’s activity tent with Lakeridge Church

10 a.m. – 7 p.m. Bounce houses and rock wall provided by First Farmers bank

10 a.m. – 7 p.m. Craft vendors around the square

11 a.m. – 7 p.m. Food trucks around the square

11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Canvas class under the tent on the south end of the square

Noon – 4 p.m. Nerf Wars with First Mid Bank and Trust

12 p.m. – Midnight Beer tent on East Court Street with live music by Recoil from 8 p.m. ­– midnight

1 p.m. Road Rally with the Paris Chamber

5 p.m. Brothers of the Brush Beard and Moustache competition on south end of the square

6 p.m. – midnight Bicentennial Bike Night in the two parking lots north of Twisted Throttle Saloon

Sunday, June 18

3:15 p.m. Community Church Service under the tent on the south side of the square

6 p.m. County Dinner under the tent on the south end of the square
