The following matters were heard during the Aug. 31 and Sept. 3 criminal and traffic calls in Edgar County Circuit Court.

 

In custody

-Jacob R. Archer, 42, Paris, was in custody of the Edgar County Sheriff’s Department and charged with a Class 4 felony criminal trespassing and a Class A misdemeanor criminal damage to property. The public defender was appointed. Bond was set at $5,000 and the matter was continued for a preliminary hearing. Archer was remanded custody pending posting of bond and ordered to have no contact with the apparent victim or the residence.

-Shawna B. Behiter, 45, Brocton, appeared in custody and was charged with a Class 3 felony possession of methamphetamine and a Class A misdemeanor retail theft. The public defender was appointed, bond was set at $5,000. The matter was continued for the preliminary hearing. Behiter was remanded to custody pending posting of bond.

-Dustin C. Craig, 39, Paris, appeared in custody. He was charged with a Class 2 felony failure to register as a sex offender and a Class 3 felony possession of methamphetamine. The public defender was appointed, bond was set at $2,500 and the matter continued for a first appearance with counsel. He was remanded to custody pending posting of bond.

-Ernest W. Darkis, 35, Paris, was in custody and charged with a Class 4 felony failure to register as a sex offender. The public defender was appointed, and bond was set at $3,500. The matter was continued for the preliminary hearing, and he was remanded to custody pending posting of bond.

-Marcie A. Galiher, 52, Paris, appeared in custody. She was charged with a Class 3 felony failure to register as a sex offender and a Class 4 felony sex offender within 500 feet of a park. The case went to the public defender, and bond was set at $3,500. The preliminary hearing was scheduled, and Galiher was remanded to custody pending posting of bond.

-Daniel L. Henson Jr., 21, Paris, appeared in custody. He was charged with a Class 2 felony aggravated domestic battery and a Class A misdemeanor domestic battery. The public defender was appointed, and bond was set at $10,000. The matter was continued for the preliminary hearing. He was remanded to custody pending posting of bond and ordered to have no contact with the apparent victim or residence.

-Anthony R. Marchant, 38, Paris, appeared in custody. He was charged with a Class A misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. The public defender was appointed, and Marchant was granted a personal recognizance bond. The matter was continued for a first appearance with counsel, and he was remanded to custody pending release processing.

-Kaylin M. McGinness, 24, Paris, appeared in custody and was charged with a Class 2 felony burglary, two counts of a Class 4 felony possession of a credit or debit card of another individual and a Class 4 felony retail theft. The public defender was appointed, and bond was set at $5,000. A preliminary hearing was scheduled, and McGinness was remanded to custody pending posting of bond.

-Kari H.  Schoonover, no age provided, Universal, Ind., was in custody and was charged with a Class 3 felony aggravated battery. The case went to the public defender, and bond was set at $2,500. The matter was continued for the preliminary hearing. She was remanded to custody pending posting of bond and ordered to have no contact with the apparent victim or residence.

-Anthony S. Wallace, 33, Paris, appeared in custody. He was charged with a Class 2 felony burglary and a Class A misdemeanor theft. The public defender was appointed, and Wallace was granted a personal recognizance bond. The matter was continued for the preliminary hearing, and Wallace was remanded to custody pending release processing.

-Johnathan T. Wells, 27, Paris, was in custody but refused to appear in court for the bond hearing. In his absence, bond was set at $5,000. His charges of a Class 3 felony intimidation and a Class 4 felony false 9-1-1 call were continued for the preliminary hearing.

 

Charges

-Roger D. Bell, 36, Paris, was charged and pleaded not guilty with a jury trial demand to a Class A misdemeanor driving on a suspended license. The public defender was assigned, and the matter was continued for a pretrial conference.

-Raquel L. Evard, 32, Paris, was presented with and denied a Class A misdemeanor driving under the influence of alcohol conviction. The matter was continued for a pretrial conference.

-Rachel A. Perisho, 38, Paris, was charged with a Class C misdemeanor disorderly conduct. The matter was continued for formal arraignment.

-Lennie Waltz, 54, Chrisman, was charged with a Class 4 felony aggravated driving while license is revoked. The public defender was assigned to the case, and the matter was continued for the preliminary hearing.

In another matter, Waltz pleaded not guilty with a jury trial demand to a Class A misdemeanor driving on a revoked license charge. A pretrial conference was set.

-Ethan A. Watson, 19, Paris, was charged with a Class A misdemeanor illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor. He told the court he will hire an attorney, and the matter was continued for a first appearance with counsel.

 

Not guilty pleas

-Ethan M. Dick, 17, Paris, pleaded not guilty with a jury trial demand to a Class A misdemeanor reckless driving charge. The matter was continued for a pretrial conference.

-Tristan D. Gross, 19, Paris, pleaded not guilty with a jury trial demand to a Class A misdemeanor illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor and a Class A misdemeanor reckless driving charges. A pretrial conference was set.

-Austin H.J. Herrington, 21, Paris, pleaded not guilty with a jury trial demand to a Class A misdemeanor criminal sexual abuse and a Class A misdemeanor battery charges. The matter was continued for a pretrial conference.

-Audra Lee Kelley, 33, Blandford, Ind., denied a petition to revoke her conditional discharge sentence for a Class A misdemeanor driving on a revoked license conviction. The matter was continued for a pretrial conference.

-Christine R. Marchant, 45, Paris, pleaded not guilty with a jury trial demand to a Class A misdemeanor driving on a suspended license charge. A pretrial conference was scheduled.

-Rebecca Louis Ray, 27, Marshall, pleaded not guilty with a jury trial demand to a Class 3 felony possession of methamphetamine and a Class A misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia charge. A pretrial conference was scheduled.

-Brittini E. Rios, no age or address, pleaded not guilty with a jury trial demand to a Class A misdemeanor theft charge. A pretrial conference was scheduled.

-Patrick C. Sharp, 33, Terre Haute, Ind., denied a petition to revoke his conditional discharge sentence for a Class A misdemeanor criminal trespassing conviction. A pretrial conference was scheduled.

 

Warrants

Warrants were issued when the following individuals failed to answer the court call: David J. Osborne, 34, Paris; and Jalen R. Scroggins, 21, Charleston.
