Local Altrusa receives grant

The familiar Altrusa Reading Trailer that appears at numerous community events and gives free books to children is getting a makeover.

Altrusa International Foundation provided a $2,300 grant to help redo the trailer with a new wrapping, new tires, painting and reorganizing the interior. Local community organizations helping with the project are: the Paris Rotary, Elks, Kiwanis, Lions Club and the Brocton Springfest Committee.

Paris Altrusa Club president Melinda Randolph said the purpose of Altrusa International Foundation grants is to improve the economic well-being and quality of life through a commitment to community service and literacy.
