The Chrisman City Park lost two large walnut trees in Thursday’s storm. Like other communities multiple trees and limbs fell throughout the city with some trees landing on homes.

Strong winds during a storm Thursday afternoon damaged the Edgar County Courthouse. The wind caught the metal cladding over the wood frame of the clock tower ripping it away and taking out two windows. The photo was taken shortly after the damage occurred and it was still raining.

A derecho storm ripped through Edgar County Thursday, July 29, causing significant damage in multiple locations. Winds clocked at 80 mph, or more, tore off part of the roof on the former Benjamin Office Supply building and deposited a large segment in Central Street. More debris from the roof was spread over the Edgar County Courthouse lawn, including dropping a tree near the water fountain.
