Francis William “Bill” Chittick, 84, of Paris, passed away at 11:06 a.m. Monday, Oct. 7, 2019, at Horizon Health.
Following cremation, a memorial service is 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15, at the First Christian Church, with the Rev. Mark Parkinson officiating. Interment of the cremains is in Edgar Cemetery and American Legion Post 211 will provide military honors. Following interment, a celebration of life is at the American Legion. Visitation is from 4 until 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 14, at Stewart and Carroll Funeral Home.
Mr. Chittick was born April 27, 1935, in Edgar County, the son of Francis William “Doc” Chittick Sr. and Virginia Robb Chittick. He married Linda Sunkel April 9, 1960, at the First Christian Church, and she survives.
He is also survived by two children, Ann Chittick Cacciapaglia of Port Orchard, Wash., and William John (Kristin) Chittick of Paris; four grandchildren, Christopher William Cacciapaglia of Port Orchard, Wash., Allana Marie Chittick of Washington, D.C., John Nicodemus Chittick of Charlotte, N.C., and Braden Andrew Chittick of Evansville, Ind.; one sister, Virginia Tolford of Evanston; a brother-in-law, Brent Pace of Buckeye, Ariz.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Kathi Pace; his son-in-law, Anthony Cacciapaglia; and a brother-in-law, Pete Tolford.
Mr. Chittick graduated from Paris High School in 1953. He was in the United States Marine Corps from 1953 to 1956, serving in the Korean War and in Japan during peace time and earning the rank of sergeant. He was a 1960 graduate of Purdue University and was a member of Phi Kappa Sigma Fraternity while attending there. He was a rancher, farmer and stockbroker, a member of First Christian Church Disciples of Christ, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3601, American Legion Post 211, the Marine Corps League and enjoyed fishing and horses.
