Carol L. Roberts, 80, of Kansas, passed away at 2:20 p.m. Monday, Sept. 14, 2020, at her residence. She was the Activity Director for The Asta Care Center in Bloomington, Ill., and worked as a Quality Control Inspector for Unarco Industries in Paris.

A visitation is from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 17, at Stewart and Carroll Funeral Home. A second visitation is from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 18, at Calvert-Belangee-Bruce Funeral Home in Le Roy, with a funeral service to follow immediately after. Pastors John and Susie Deeters of Ranch House Church and Pastor Joe Hanley of Paris Southern Baptist Church will officiate the funeral service.

In keeping with federal mandates due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, everyone is asked to be patient and abide by the state regulation of 25 visitors with masks allowed inside the funeral home. Everyone is welcome, but the family asks that visits be kept short so that all who wish to pay their respects can do so. Stewart and Carroll Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Mrs. Roberts was born Jan. 21, 1940, in Downs, the daughter of the late John H. Sledge and Louise Smith Sledge. She married Donald W. Roberts May 11, 1973, at the State Line Christian Church outside of Paris. He passed away July 16, 2004.

She is survived by her children, Tarol (Kathy) Maxwell of Muldraugh, Ky., Travis Maxwell of Philo, Teressa Fox (Frank Mooneyham) of Paris, Lisa (James) Hall of Springhill, Fla., Lori Ann Roberts of Paris, Tracey (Andy) Kay of Brazil, Ind., Penny (Jeff) Goble of Danville; her siblings, Joanna McCullough of Lincoln, John D. (Sharon) Sledge of Carr, Colo.; 11 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Mabel Marie Maxwell; son, Todd Maxwell; brother, Kenneth D. Sledge; grandchild, Shea Sapp; and great-grandchild, Jarrad “Duece” Schomaker.

Mrs. Roberts was a member of the Southern Baptist Church in Paris, State Line Christian Church and a charter member of Embarrass Community Church, where she taught Sunday School for more than 30 years. She was also a member of the gospel groups the Trail Blaizers and the Cowboy Singers, both out of De Land.

Memorials may be made to St. Labre Indian School in Ashland, Mont.
