The Paris Lions Club started August with a busy weekend.
Members donated and served desserts to accompany the Aug. 2 American Legion Auxiliary monthly fish fry.
The following day, Aug. 3, started at the Henry Frost Field where members served hot dogs and awards to children and their families and volunteers who participated in the Paris Lions Minor League’s 50th year in the community. At the same time, other members were offering free vision screenings to children at the Horizon Health Back to School Bang. These screenings help detect vision anomalies which, if caught early enough, can be treated or even cured.
Later during the afternoon of Aug. 3, members used the golf cart being raffled to help transport participants in the Relay for Life. Earlier in the day, some members were also selling tickets at Rural King for a chance to win the golf cart.
The annual golf cart raffle is the Paris Lions Club’s main fundraiser which helps support these and many other services to members of the community and beyond. To learn more about Paris Lions Club, visit Facebook at Paris IL Lions Club or the website www.e-clubhouse.org/sites/parisil.
