CHARLESTON – The Coles County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in locating William Ryan Blair, 32, who has a Kansas address.
“Do not approach or have contact,” said Sheriff James Rankin, adding authorities consider Blair as armed and dangerous.
The best way to relay information about Blair is by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-866-345-8488 or through colescountycrimestoppers.org.
Blair is described as a white male, 5 feet 11 inches, 200 pounds, blond hair and blue eyes.
Authorities say Blair was last seen wearing a black jacket and blue jeans. He is believed to be moving between Rardin and cabins near state Route 16 and the Embarrass River. He is a person of interest related to recently stolen and recovered vehicles.
“We are encouraging the public to remove the keys and secure their vehicles as well as keeping their properties locked,” said Rankin.
In addition to being a suspect in the auto thefts, Blair has a Coles County warrant for pre-trial violation for a burglary charge.
He also has an active warrant Edgar County warrant for aggravated domestic battery, domestic battery, interference with reporting domestic violence and theft of a motor vehicle.
Rankin again emphasized law enforcement considers Blair dangerous and likely armed and people should not approach him or try to apprehend him.
