KANSAS — After a day off from game action, the Tri-County Titans volleyball squad was back in Kansas on Thursday night for a Lincoln Prairie Conference contest against the Argenta-Oreana Bombers.
This was their third match in four days for the Titans coming off of a thrilling and grueling three set win on Tuesday against the Cumberland Pirates.
Tri-County was going against a senior laden Bombers team who lost a tough three set match in Farmer City against the Blue Ridge Knights.
The match turned out to be one the Titans had to fight for once again.
Set number one saw both teams go point for point and having to go a little extra before the Titans pulled out a 29-27 win to take a 1-0 lead in the match. Set two saw Tri-County use that momentum to take an early
set two before Argenta-Oreana used a 8-2 run of their own to pull within three points at 12-9. In the end, the Titans got back into rhythm taking control to win the second set 25-16 to sweep the match for their second straight win.
Kaylenn Hunt finished with nine kills, two aces, a block, and a kill to lead the Titans while Josie Armstrong had her best match of the season adding seven kills, an ace, and a dig. Melia Eskew dished out 19 assists, six kills, and six aces and Bella Dudley had four kills, two blocks, an ace, and a dig. Brooke Baker chipped in three kills, an ace, and a dig while Kaylin Williams had eight digs and an assist. Briana Reese had three digs in the win.
Keely Meador led the Bombers with five kills while the quartet of Cassie Newbanks, Zandrea Balding, Lillian Valladares, and Morgan Klover had three kills each with both Valladares and Klover adding an ace each. Newbanks also chipped in two blocks and Molly Patton recorded two aces in the loss.
The Titans (6-2, 6-1 LPC) will travel to Villa Grove on Tuesday to face the Villa Grove Blue Devils. First serve is set for 6:00 p.m. at Villa Grove High School.
