COVID cases up again

Posted

Edgar County experienced a significant number of new cases between Nov. 10 and Nov. 18 with 68 people testing positive. The prior reporting period had only 38 cases.

With the rising number of cases, more people were hospitalized. The week started with 11 people in the hospital and closed with 16.

All numbers are from the daily check of the Edgar County Public Health Department’s website.

The website did show a small ray of improvement. Edgar County finally broke the 40% line for residents fully vaccinated against COVID-19. The health department website is now reporting 6,953 residents as fully vaccinated for 40.05% of the population.

Free vaccine and boosters remain available through scheduled vaccine clinics at the health department 4-6 p.m. Nov. 22 and 4-6 p.m. Nov. 29.

Appointments are required so the staff can thaw the correct number of doses and may be made at ecphd.org. Those without computer access may call 217-294-2838 or 217-294-2728 for assistance.
