MARSHALL — Senior Education Ministries, Inc. in partnership with Chester P. Sutton Community Center for Seniors of Edgar County schedules Dine with a Doc ® on the second Friday of every month at the Trinity United Methodist Church. The next program is 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 11.
Dine with a Doc® is a free program welcoming the local senior public to to hear an educational topic while enjoying a complimentary lunch.
Each doctor has graciously donated time to listen, hear and answer medical questions while sharing a meal. Various community businesses also participate by donating door prizes or providing complimentary lunch for participants to enjoy and learn about ways those businesses may help the senior population.
The Dine with a Doc® program was designed to allow the seniors to get out of their homes, fellowship with their peers, extend their available financial resources, promote enhanced living and educate them, from a preventative standpoint, with the goal of improving their quality of life and providing them with the resources and information to make an informed choice about healthcare.
This month’s speaker is Connie Rhoads, a licensed clinical social worker with Horizon Health Senior Care Clinic. Her experience includes working as a social worker for the public-school system in Springfield. She also worked for judges in Dallas, Texas, as a social worker for court-appointed special advocates and was the administrator for a federal juvenile task force.
The complimentary lunch is provided by Horizon Health.
Reservations for Dine with A Doc® are required.
Senior Citizens should call and make reservations by contacting: Lori Aplin -toll free @ 1-877-223-6109 and leave a message with name, phone #, and number that will be attending. Seating is limited due to COVID-19 restrictions. A waiting list will be created if all seats are filled.
All attending Dine with a Doc will have their temperatures checked before entering the building. Those who do not pass the screening cannot attend the meeting.
