Eagles encounter tough competition

TUSCOLA – Crestwood split a girls basketball doubleheader against Tuscola this past week, winning the eighth-grade contest 24-16 but dropping the seventh-grade game 35-8.

Crestwood has two games on the schedule next week, traveling to Mt. Zion on Wednesday, Oct. 23 then hosting Tri-County at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24.

TUSCOLA 35, CRESTWOOD 8

The seventh-grade Lady Eagles just couldn’t get their offense going in the game against Tuscola and were hampered by 20 turnovers, ultimately dropping the game 35-8.

Krayten Trogden led the scoring for Crestwood with four points while Gigi Bradley and Olivia Foote each added two points.

CRESTWOOD 24, TUSCOLA 16

Lexi Crippes scored 16 points to lead the eighth-grade Lady Eagles to a win over a tough Tuscola team, 24-16.

Crippes hit five baskets and two treys for Crestwood. Ashlyn Hansel and Carsten Haddix added four points apiece for the Lady Eagles.

TEUTOPOLIS 39, CRESTWOOD 6

On Saturday, Oct. 12, the Lady Eagle seventh graders lost to Teutopolis 39-6.

Krayten Trogdon, Olivia Foote and Lola Camp each had a basket for Crestwood.

TEUTOPOLIS 33, CRESTWOOD 16

In the eighth-grade game, Crestwood fell 33-16 to a disciplined T-town squad.

Lexi Crippes and Bayah Good each scored five points while Kyndall Fuqua rounded out the scoring with six.
