MARSHALL — Hazel Joan Claypool Erwin, 81, departed this life Friday, May 27, 2022, at her home

She requested that following her death cremation be accorded with no services. Pearce Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Erwin was born Jan. 13, 1941, in Dolson Township, Clark County, the daughter of Gladys Blanche and Arthur Mark Claypool. She first married Jim Givens and they had two girls, Dianna Lynn and Lisa Joan. After their divorce, she married Bruce Erwin, and he preceded her in death.

She is survived by a sister Judy (Monroe) Hall; her late husband’s two daughters whom she treasured, Dianna (Sean) Hale and Denita (David) Aitken; four grandchildren, Logan (Harley) Hale, Aaron (Shelby Garrett) Lankster, Brenna (Cameron) Nees and Bailey Aitken; great-grandchildren, Oliver Nees, Raelynn Hale and Willow Hale; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her two daughters, Dianna Lynn and Lisa Joan; and her siblings, Harold Claypool, Bill Claypool, Benny Claypool, Dorothy Claypool and Joyce Hoopingarner.

Mrs. Erwin was an active member of the Otterbein United Methodist Church where she served as organist for many years and was a member of Eastern Star Chapter 7 of Paris. She will be dearly missed by her Oliver families.
