Edgar County Coroner Scott Barrett has confirmed the death of an 18-year-old male following a UTV accident on Tuesday night, May 24.
Barrett said Edgar County 911 dispatchers were notified of the accident at 10:23 p.m. Tuesday, and the Vermilion Fire Department, Paris Fire Department, Horizon Health EMS and the Edgar County Sheriff’s Department all responded to the call.
Zachary E. W. Warrick, 18, of Indianapolis, Ind., was transported to the emergency room of Paris Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 12:38 a.m. Wednesday, May 25, 2022.
“Mr. Warrick was one of two passengers in a Polaris Ranger crew cab side-by-side that was driven by a third occupant on private property located at 4676 North 2025th Street, south of Vermilion,” Barrett said.
Barrett confirmed, all three occupants were ejected from the vehicle which rolled over and came to rest on top of Warrick. The names of the others involved in the accident were not released by the coroner.
“An autopsy conducted Wednesday morning in Champaign, Illinois, by forensic Ppthologist Dr. Shiping Bao showed the cause of death as blunt force trauma to the abdomen,” said Barrett.
