John William Wright, 90 of Chrisman, passed away at 7:11 a.m. Tuesday, July 20, 2021, at Horizon Health Paris Community Hospital. He was retired from Lilly Corporation after 20 years as a machinist.
A Masonic service is 1 p.m. today, July 24, at Templeton Funeral Home, followed immediately by a funeral service. Burial with military honors follows in Enon Cemetery, near Ashmore. Visitation is from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. Wright was born March 25, 1931, in Coles County, the son of the late Sanford Hugh and Grace Hawkins Wright. He married Lulu Belle Miller June 10, 1953, in Paris, and she survives.
Other survivors include four children, Linda Marie (Mick) Smith of Carlinville, Larry M. (Beth) Wright of Jensen Beach, Fla., Michael J. (Becky) Wright of Westville and Thomas E. Wright of Lexington, Ky.; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one grandson; and five siblings, Harold Wright, Harriet Ijams, George Wright, Glenn Wright and Charles Wright.
Mr. Wright was a United States Air Force veteran, serving during the Korean War. He was a member of Chrisman Christian Church, a 50-year member of the Arcola Masonic Lodge, a 50- year member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #7 and a member of Chrisman American Legion Post #477. Besides working at Lilly Corporation, he also had worked at USI in Tuscola. He enjoyed camping, fishing and tinkering in the garage making wood crafts.
