BROCTON — The Village of Brocton has a new place to eat. New operators Dan and Denise Duniphan of Casey opened the doors of the American Diner at the Village Pump Feb. 20.
The restaurant is located at 102 W. 3rd St. in the building that has long housed the Village Pump.
The Duniphan’s lease the restaurant from BIC (Brocton Improvement Committee). Years ago, a family left the diner to a group of local farmers who met at the restaurant every morning for coffee. It is still a place for locals to gather and have breakfast and fellowship.
Dan Duniphan said he was asked by a friend in Brocton to consider opening a restaurant at that location.
“I have been in the restaurant and food business for many years and decided to look into providing the village with a new place to dine,” he said.
He formerly owned and operated a restaurant in Casey, Dano’s Eats & Treats, and the Duniphans have three food trailers they take to special events and festivals throughout the year.
One trailer is their “American Freeze” which is soft serve ice cream. Another is the “American Smoke” which is barbecue, and the third trailer is the “American Grill Diner.”
Lunch is the busiest time of the day for the diner. In addition to the regular menu, there are weekly specials and every Friday is an all-you-can-eat fish fry.
The American Diner is open seven days a week. The hours are 6 a.m.-2 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 4-8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Sunday.
“We enjoy being in Brocton,” he said. “Everyone has welcomed us to the community, and we feel right at home.”
