Information posted daily to the Edgar County Department of Public Health website shows a decline in new COVID-19 cases for the period of April 24 to April 30.

Only seven cases were placed on the website representing two individuals with lab-confirmed positives and five people who tested positive with the rapid test system. The lab-confirmed cases were a female in her 20s and a male in his 30s.

The number of hospitalized cases has remained steady at eight people for several weeks, although that number increased to nine hospital cases Friday, April 30 to close the week.

Vaccination clinics are continuing, and the health department is now able to offer vaccine to any county resident above the age of 18.

Clinic dates for the coming week are:

-Today, May 1, at Paris High School for first dose of Moderna.

-Monday, May 3, at the Paris Public Health Department for first and second doses of Moderna.

-Thursday, May 6, at the Paris Public Health Department for first and second doses of Moderna.

Appointment times to receive the vaccine will be assigned upon registration through the vaccine sign-up link on the department’s website at ecphd.org.

County residents without Internet access may call the health department at 217-294-2838 or 217-294-2728 for assistance getting registered.
