New partner at Thiel Accounting

Dennis Thiel recently announced Betsy Higginbotham has joined the firm of Dennis O. Thiel Accounting, LLC. as a partner.

Higginbotham has been an employee of Thiel Accounting for nine years and has assisted clients in the area of income tax preparation and bookkeeping.

She is an alumnus of Paris High School and a graduate of Eastern Illinois University. In 2010, she received her degree in finance, and in 2016 she received her second degree in accounting.

Higginbotham has always had a love for accounting, but the 2008 stock market crash had a devastating impact on financial jobs. Upon receiving her degree, she left her resume at Thiel Accounting and was pleased when she received the call the firm was interested in hiring her.

Higginbotham is married to Jacob Higginbotham, and they have two sons, Leo and Logan.

Away from the office she enjoys spending her time outdoors whether it is helping on the farm, camping, running, biking or enjoying nature. She enjoys giving back to the community through different organizations and currently holds the position of city treasurer.

“This is my home, it always has been home to me and always will be. It is important to give back to a community that has given me many opportunities,” said Higginbotham.

Thiel Accounting has provided accounting and tax services since 1983. The firm strives to help individuals, farmers and small business owners with all their tax situations. Other services offered include payroll, bookkeeping and sales tax services.

“Betsy brings youth, energy, and vitality to our office,” said Thiel. “She has fresh new ideas and will rekindle energy to our business.”
