OAKLAND – Delano Ray Richards, 74, of Brocton, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, Jan. 26, 2023, at Barnes–Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, Mo.
A funeral service is noon Wednesday, Feb. 1, at Krabel Funeral Home. Burial follows in Newman Cemetery. A visitation is from 10 a.m. until the time of the service Wednesday at the funeral home.
Mr. Richards was born Jan. 16, 1949, in Paris, the son of Wilbur Lee and Norma Lee Broadway Richards.
Survivors include his three children, Brent (Melissa) Richards of Westville, Brandon (Juliette) Richards of Brocton, and Tara (Charles) Eakle of Newman; brother, Wilbur Leon (Linda) Richards of Brocton; a sister, Donna Richards of Newton; and nine grandchildren, Kyle Richards, C.J. Eakle, Ethan Richards, Abigail Richards, Elijah Eakle, Ella Richards, Gavin Richards, Savannah Richards, and Oz Richards.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Richards was a veteran of the United States Army, and was awarded an Army Commendation Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal.
He was a lifetime member of both the Paris V.F.W. and the Brocton American Legion. He was a truck driver for 37 years. Mr. Richards was a very active member of the Brocton Christian Church, where he served as elder.
