Dennis William Pennington, 65, of Jacksonville, Texas, and formerly of Paris, passed away unexpectedly July 4, 2021, at Christus Mother Francis Hospital.

 

Cremation was accorded. A memorial service was July 9 at Fellowship Bible Church in Jacksonville, Texas. A local memorial service is from 2 to 4 p.m. July 24 at the Oliver United Methodist Church in Oliver.

 

Mr. Pennington was born Sept. 5, 1955, in Terre Haute, Ind., the son of Mary Thompson Pittman and Charles Pennington. He married Linda Cassity on April 6, 2006, and she survives.

 

He is also survived by one daughter, Michelle (David) Lawlyes of Chriman; his parents; sisters, Jeanette (Daniel) Joseph of Paris, Candy Myles of Marshall, Deena (Kerry) Nash of Pittsfield and Jo (Scott) Liggett of Terre Haute, Ind.; grandchildren Kyle Shivlar and Nathaniel Parker of Paris; and many extended stepchildren and step-grandchildren.

 

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Charles and Wilma Pennington, Dessie Thompson McCallan and Pat Thompson; one nephew, Randal Joseph; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

 

After graduating from Paris High School, Mr. Pennington moved to Texas and started his own construction business, DP Construction. He was an active member of the Fellowship Bible Church of Jacksonville where he also served on the security team. When he wasn’t busy working he loved spending time with his family, his guns and his Thursday night poker buddies.

 

He had a heart as big as Texas and would help out in any way if possible. He will truly be missed by all who knew him and loved him. He was known for his distinctive laugh.
