MARSHALL — Leland E. Buckner, 90, of Marshall, passed away at 4:38 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2020, in Marshall Rehabilitation and Nursing. He was a retired farmer

A public graveside service is 2:45 p.m. Monday, Nov. 16, at Green Moss Cemetery, with military graveside rites accorded by Clark County Post #90 of the American Legion and Veteran of Foreign Wars Post #5975. Due to COVID-19, the visitation and funeral service are private. Pearce Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Buckner was born July 3, 1930, in Dolson Township of Clark County, the son of Eugene and Madge Nicholson Buckner. He married Betty J. Baker on April 6, 1957, at Clarksville, and she preceded him in death July 1, 2015.

He is survived by a son John L. “J.B.” (Shirley) Buckner of Paris; a grandson, Randy (Susan Williams) Buckner of Groves, Texas; great-grandchildren, Jonathan Buckner and Evelyn Buckner; step-grandchildren, Deborah Myles of Martinsville, Mike Paterson of Martinsville, Dena (Rob) Porter of Marshall, Teri (Alan) Winemiller of Vincennes, Ind., and Twila (Tim) Fears of Terre Haute, Ind.; a brother, James Buckner of Paris; a sister, Zelda Curran of Marshall; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Dean Buckner; and a sister, Margaret Mattingly.

Mr. Buckner was a 1948 graduate of Marshall High School, a member of the Clark County Farm Bureau, a former 4-H leader and a 50-year member of Clark County Post #90 of the American Legion. He served this nation in the U.S. Marines.

Memorial donations may be made to the Green Moss Cemetery Association.
