ANDERSON, Ind. — Marilyn Ellen Sands, 65, of Pendleton, Ind., passed Oct. 17, 2021, at her home in Paris, Ill. She was retired from the Indiana Department of Corrections, working as an administrative assistant in all of the Pendleton correctional facilities.

A service is 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 29 at Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory, 200 W. 53rd Street, Anderson, with visitation from 3 p.m. until the service time. Cremation will follow.

Mrs. Sands was born Nov. 5, 1955, in Paris, the daughter of the late Bruce and Ruth Carmichael Miller Jr. She married Barry K. Sands, who preceded her in death.

She is survived by her children, Joshua A. (Yuki) Miller of San Diego, Calif., Joseph A. Miller of Anderson and Steven R. (Emily) McPherson of Greenfield, Ind.; her grandchildren, Khloe and Kaden Miller, and a granddaughter that is expected in December; and her canine companion, Willy.

Mrs. Sanders was a 1974 graduate of Pendleton Heights High School. She loved to travel, camp and enjoy the great outdoors, and was an avid animal lover.  She dedicated her life and was most proud of being a mother of three boys that she loved and adored above all else. Watching those boys grow into men and follow their dreams was the joy of her life, and will forever be her legacy.

Memorial donations may be made to the Madison County Humane Society, 2219 Crystal Street, Anderson, IN 46012.
