OAKLAND – Mildred Fern Tuttle Gray, 85, Oakland, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2022, at her home

A funeral service is 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, at Krabel Funeral Home. Burial follows in Oakland Cemetery. A visitation is 11 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.

Mrs. Gray was born Jan. 18,1937, in Orange Township near Darwin, Ill., the daughter of Albert Russel and Neva L. Bowen Tuttle. She married Lerot Gray on Sept. 14, 1957, at the Oakland Christian church and they enjoyed 54 years together before Mr. Gray’s death in 2011.

Survivors include a son, Eric Leroy Gray of Oakland; a brother, Albert Dale Tuttle of Paris; six grandsons, Chris, Brent, Terry, Tyler and Tanner Gray; nine great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; a special foster son, Lalit Vora of Toronto, Canada; a niece, Rachel Hart of Oklahoma; and a nephew, Harry Collier of Paris.

She was preceded in death by a son, Tod Gray; her parents; and two sisters, Lorene Collier and Leona Hart.

Mrs. Gray graduated from Paris high School in 1955 and from Richland Beauty School in Mattoon in January 1965. She operated a beauty shop in her home for more than 54 years.

She also worked for the A & P Grocery in Paris during high school and for Carl Killion, the Illinois State Superintendent of Division of Apiaries, 1955 – 1962.

Memorial donations may be made to the Oakland Christian Church.
