William Kelton Goddard, 80, of Paris, passed away at 8:21 a.m. EDT Monday, July 12, 2021, at the Gibson Family Center for Hospice Care, Terre Haute, Ind. He was a farmer and had worked for many years as a carpenter for Howard Yeargin and Deem’s Lumber.
A service celebrating his life is 1:30 p.m. Thursday, July 15, at Templeton Funeral Home, with Bros. Kurt Speece and Don Gordon officiating. Burial follows in Grandview Cemetery in Grandview Township. Visitation is from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 14, at the funeral home.
Mr. Goddard was born Dec. 27, 1940, in Oakland Township, Illinois, the son of the late Harold W. and Vivian A. Hanner Goddard. He married Sara E. Dick June 3, 1962, in Paris, and she survives.
Other survivors include two children, Robert K. (Mary) Goddard and Kimberly A. Norman (Jay Willaman) both of Paris; a brother, Thomas Goddard of Kansas; two sisters, Phyllis Dunn of Paris and Harolyn St. Clair of Terre Haute; eight grandchildren, Cristina and John Gowrylow, Jessena Goddard, Allyson (Blake) Marrs, and Austin, Adam, Abram and Ariel Norman; four great-grandchildren, Alexis Walton, Lincoln Gowrylow, and William and Mason Marrs; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Goddard was a member of Bell Ridge Christian Church of Paris where he served as a deacon and trustee. He was proud of having helped the church in building its pavilion and church addition and assisting in the parsonage remodeling project. He was also a member of the Edgar County Farm Bureau, FFA Alumni and was active in 4-H and FFA throughout his life.
