The 10U Paris Little League All-Stars opened state tournament bracket play in the best way possible – by surviving. Paris battled to a scrappy, defensive 1-0 win over Ridge Beverly on Monday, July 15.

The teams clashed in the first round of the Little League State Tournament in Paris after playing a slew of games in pool play over the weekend.

For Paris, Colten V. brought the deciding run to the plate in the bottom of the second, singling to short to score Carter W. after he tripled with a line drive to right field during the previous at-bat. On the mound, Kaysen M. (4.1 innings pitched) and Kaelen B. (1.2 innings pitched) took care of business for the Paris All-Stars, dealing seven and four strikeouts, respectively.

Paris will continue its journey to a state title at 5:30 p.m., Tuesday, July 16 against the winner of the one-eight matchup between Hinsdale and Beardstown.

The winner of that contest will punch their ticket to the state championship game that same evening at 7:30 p.m. The championship game will be played at Frost Field.
