Paris Elks Lodge makes annual donations

Several local organizations got an early Christmas recently.

The Paris Elks Lodge held its annual distribution of donations Tuesday, Nov. 16, at the American Legion Post. A total of $14,250 was given to a variety of local groups.

Elks Lodge member Marci Irwin said the gifts came from three sources. The largest amount, $10,000, was secured through grants the local lodge wrote for money available from the larger Elks organization. Those funds were split among 11 local groups.

The remainder of the money came directly from the Paris Elks through fundraising, a golf outing and lodge funds.

Elks President Chad Stevens told those gathered the local lodge does not attract a lot of public attention because it does not have its own building, but it is still an active organization within the community.

“We are here, and we are strong,” said Stevens.
