The Paris Cooperative High School board of education met Monday, Jan. 9, to discuss a few topics.
The board honored PHS guidance counselor Jeff Barnes on his retirement. Barnes has been employed with the high school for 35 years.
He started in 1989 and in his tenure at PHS has taken on many roles including, teacher, coach and counselor.
The board also announced the graduation date for PHS graduation is 7 p.m. Friday, May 19. The location for commencement is to be determined due to the damages the gym suffered from the broken sprinkler system. One possible location is Eveland Gym.
“We should ask the seniors and get their input,” said PHS principal Mark Cox. “I believe they should have some input on where they graduate if it is not here.”
The board also adopted all policy updates and approved a donation of $388 from the Knights of Columbus to the PHS Special Education class for needed supplies.
