On Friday, Dec. 6, students and families of Paris District 95 enjoyed the brisk evening walking through Twin Lakes Park to see the extravagant Christmas light displays.

The event was sponsored through the CURES grant the district had received, as well as a good partnership with the Paris Parks Board and Department.

“I can’t give enough thanks to the Paris Parks Department and Board,” said Maria Hartwig, Director of After-School Programming for District 95. “The Paris 95 administration are also a great partnership. They truly put the kids, families and staff at the heart of everything.”

In addition to the bright views and good exercise, attendees also enjoyed fresh hot chocolate with marshmallows and chocolate chip cookies, courtesy of Steve’s Cookie Box, as well as glow-in-the-dark necklaces.

“Things went great it was very cold. We had an excellent turnout from families of District 95. We also gave out candy canes and gloves,” Hartwig said. “The park never disappoints. The lights this year were the best they have ever been. The families were so excited to be able to walk through them.”

If funding allows it, District 95 would thoroughly enjoy organizing the event on an annual basis.
