London Pruiett is an eighth grader at Mayo Middle School and loves every minute of every day but is ready to move to the next level.
“I get to go to high school next year,” said Pruiett. “I get to learn so much more, like Spanish and foods.”
In her spare time, Pruiett loves to craft.
“I spend a lot of time on Pinterest,” Pruiett said. “Getting crafting ideas.”
While at Mayo she has involved herself in many extracurricular activities including band, both junior high and high school jazz band, choir, drama, softball, after-school art, student council, National Junior Honor Society and Redbird Leadership Council.
Her favorite activities are band and choir and was surprised by the Redbird Leadership Council.
“My mom thought I would be interested in it, so I tried it out and I really liked it,” said Pruiett. “I like it because I love to volunteer, and it is interesting to help people in need.”
Since getting involved with the Leadership Council, Pruiett has been part of many functions. She has helped with the local blessing boxes, Shop with a Cop, dashing through the lights, Faith in Action, Restored Hope Leadership camp and the VFW Dinner, which has meant the most to her.
“Honestly, I love to help people,” Pruiett said. “The VFW Dinner will always stick out in my mind because I got to serve the veterans who were really happy with it all.”
Looking back Pruiett has had many memorable moments but there are three that she believes are the best.
“I have had three lead roles in the plays in the last three years,” said Pruiett. “It has been so much fun and hopefully I can continue that into high school.”
The thought of leaving Mayo does not bother Pruiett, but she will miss a few things.
“I am going to miss Mr. Clawson,” Pruiett said. “I will also miss my classes in general and drama.”
Pruiett is considering her possibilities after high school.
“I want to do something with the arts but I’m not 100% sure,” Pruiett said. “Recently I’ve started becoming interested in being a teacher for some reason.”
