Scam credit card calls reach county

Posted

A Brocton-area resident has informed The Prairie Press she received a suspicious call related to credit card debt.

The scammer’s number was denoted as unavailable on caller ID, which was the first indicator something was amiss.

After answering the call, the woman was presented with a pitch to eliminate her outstanding credit card debt. All that was needed for the caller to make the debt disappear was the woman’s credit card number.

The woman told The Prairie Press she refused to divulge her credit card number and wanted to share the story as a warning for others to be careful. She was concerned if she was contacted other people may also be getting the bogus calls.
