This week the Paris Tiger Mural, which has been in the process since the beginning of summer, has finally been put up on display for the community of Paris to see.
The mural was created by Millie Arp Hamilton and several of her art students at Mayo Middle School. Arp Hamilton recruited students to create something symbolizing Paris as a concoction of all kinds of people, with different personalities, hobbies, families, thoughts, interests, skills and flaws.
The students came up with the idea to design a puzzle piece tiger with each individual puzzle piece being a different style of art. The project was sponsored by the Paris Improvement Organization and local art enthusiast Tom Hebermehl.
The Paris Tiger Mural is now on display near the courthouse square, across from First-Mid Bank on South Central. The group of artists hopes their work will continue to stand as a symbol for the next generation.
