The Illinois Department of Transportation announced work on Illinois 133 west of Paris will begin Thursday, Sept. 12. The project will require daily single-lane closures of Illinois 133 into summer 2025.

The $12.3 million project involves patching, resurfacing and constructing new shoulders from the Coles County line to Illinois 16 in Paris. Additionally, two box culverts near Redmon will be replaced. Temporary traffic signals will be necessary for the replacement of the box culverts.

Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. When feasible, avoiding the area and using alternate routes should be considered.

Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changing conditions and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and be alert for workers and equipment.
