The local congregation at The Presbyterian Church of Paris will honor the Rev. Rodger Allen with a reception on Sunday, Feb. 17 following the worship service at 11:30 a.m. Allen will retire from his ministerial role on Feb. 23, at the conclusion of his 21-year tenure.
Since 2004, Allen and his wife, the Reverend Laurie Williams, have served the congregation in Paris. During his tenure, Allen has been extremely active in activities and leadership of the Presbytery of Southeastern Illinois. Locally, Allen has been an active participant and officer in the Paris Ministerial Fellowship, which helps supply assistance to the needy. He helped to plan community services such as Honeybee Services, which were held for many years; Good Friday services; and many others—as well as multiple other activities. He is currently serving as the group’s secretary.
Following his retirement, the Allens will relocate to Pittsburgh, Pa., to be near their families.
