Coroner called to Kansas home

At approximately 4 p.m., Friday, Feb. 28 Edgar County Coroner Scott Barrett released details on a Kansas man who was found dead in his residence on Thursday afternoon.

“Village of Kansas Police were contacted early in the afternoon on Thursday, Feb 27. The caller stated that she had been unable to get ahold of a gentleman that she communicates with every morning and was concerned,” the statement read. “She requested a wellness check at his Kansas residence.”

Upon arrival at the home, first responders determined it was necessary to enlist the assistance of Crime Scene Investigations and to summon the coroner.

Paul W. Bishop, 68, of Kansas, was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to Barrett, all available evidence at the scene is consistent with a suicidal death.

The incident remains under the investigation of the Village of Kansas Police and the Edgar County Coroner.
