PARIS – After a tough loss to Teutopolis in the NAL Thanksgiving Tournament, the Paris Lady Tigers welcomed another perennially powerful team, the St. Joseph-Ogden Spartans, to their home court Tuesday, Nov. 26.

Paris took control of the game in the first quarter and never trailed, defeating the Spartans by the score of 61-33 to improve to 4-1 on the season. SJO falls to 0-2 on the year. Tuesday’s matchup was a far cry from last November’s meeting between these teams, when the Tigers pulled out a 44-38 win in overtime on the road.

As Lady Tiger fans have been accustomed to in the past, scoring came early and often for Paris. The home team jumped out to a 15-5 lead after eight minutes of play before exploding for 24 points in the second quarter to hold a 39-18 lead at the half. The Paris defense held the Spartans to just 15 points in the entire second half to run away with the victory.

Leading the way for the Lady Tigers was Macy Bicknell with 12 points, including three three-pointers. Along with leading the team in scoring, the sophomore guard also handed out five assists to go along with four steals in a well-rounded performance. Kailey Young stuffed the stat sheet too, tallying 11 points, three assists and three steals. Kilee Edwards also reached double-digits with 10 points.

Pailynne Camp added seven points on a pair of threes, Peighton Smith also had seven points while pulling down six rebounds in the game. Paedyn Keys had five points and Taylor Clark, Graci Watson and Morgan Coombes had three points apiece.

The junior varsity team also emerged with a victory, defeating the Spartans 43-25.

Little Illini Conference action gets underway on Thursday, Dec. 5 as the Lady Tigers host the Newton Lady Eagles (4-1) at 6 p.m. Paris will wrap their week up on Saturday, Dec. 7 as they host Sullivan with the JV game set to start at 1 p.m.
