PARIS—Music will take center stage Sunday, Oct. 25, as Paris Cooperative High School hosts its annual POPS concert to raise money for the school’s upcoming choir trip.

The concert will begin at 4 p.m. at the Paris Center of Fine Arts (PCOFA). Admission is $5, and all proceeds will support the Mayo choirs’ planned spring trip to see Wicked at the Fabulous Fox Theatre in St. Louis.

Jessica Hendrickson, who helps lead the program, said the event is designed to bring the community together for an afternoon of entertainment while supporting students’ musical opportunities.

The costume-themed concert encourages attendees to dress up, with a costume contest, candy and other activities planned throughout the event.

Performances will feature the Mayo choir, the school’s drumline and Elite Harmony, which will perform “Time Warp” from The Rocky Horror Picture Show.

For Hendrickson, the POPS concert is one of the most exciting programs.

“This is one of my favorite programs! It’s just fun!” Hendrickson said. “And seeing everyone together and dressed up makes it that much more exciting!”

The idea for the concert came from Hendrickson’s undergraduate experience at Southern Illinois University Carbondale, where POPS concerts drew community members together for performances. She brought the concept to Mayo and has continued building on it locally.

For $5 admission, community members can support local students while enjoying an afternoon of music and Halloween-themed entertainment.
