Allen Hornbrook

Allen N. Hornbrook, 77, of Paris, passed away at 9:18 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2021, in Union Hospital, Terre Haute, Ind. He was a teacher for 34 years.

A service is 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 9, at Stewart and Carroll Funeral Home. Burial is in Edgar Cemetery. Visitation is from 2 to 5 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 8, at the funeral home.

Mr. Hornbrook was born Jan. 23, 1944, in Edgar County, the son of the late Ray and Pearl Hornbrook. He married Sharon Stone Hornbrook on June 19, 1966, and she survives.

He is also survived by his children: Ray (Veronica) Hornbrook of Paris, Amy Hornbrook of Paris and Kevin (Dennis Smolej) Hornbrook of Nanaimo, British Columbia; his grandchildren, Elliott (Korianna Kluss-Klekamp) Kauffman of Belleville and Vince Hornbrook of Paris; his brother, Albert (Betty) Hornbrook of Normal; his sister-in-law Bettyle Hornbrook of Marshall; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Jodi Kay Hornbrook; and his brother, George Hornbrook.

Mr. Hornbrook started his career at Jamaica High School where he taught for two years. He then spent 32 years as the ag teacher and FFA Sponsor at Paris High School. In retirement, he thoroughly enjoyed raising and showing sheep with his grandson. He loved spending time with his family and attending his two grandsons’ activities.

He was a long time and active member of the 1st United Methodist Church in Paris, Prairie Lodge 77, ANSAR Temple in Springfield and the Edgar County Democrats Boosters.
