Betty L. Johnson, 90, of Paris, passed away at 12:20 p.m. Monday, May 3, 2021, at Twin Lakes Rehab & Health Care. She was a former activities director for Paris Healthcare Center and had also worked at the former Helfrich Florist of Paris.

A service celebrating her life is 1 p.m. Monday, May 10, at Templeton Funeral Home. Burial follows in Edgar Cemetery. Visitation is from 10 a.m. until the service time Monday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Johnson was born April 13, 1931, in Clifton, the daughter of the late Perry and Rose Spiese Hemp. She married Merle Roland Johnson on Jan. 5, 1951, in Clifton. He preceded her in death March 4, 2009.

Survivors include a son, Kyle S. (Kathy) Johnson of Paris; a brother, Jim Hemp of Phoenix, Ariz.; two sisters, Shirley Bokker of Clifton and Charlene Carpenter of Loda; a daughter-in-law, Doris Cook of Lucedale, Miss.; four grandchildren, Brett and Michael Johnson, Sheila Rothenberger and Arron Johnson; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a son, Gill E. Johnson; a brother, Gary Hemp; and a sister, Bonnie Peters.

Mrs. Johnson was a member of Oliver United Methodist Church and Paris American Legion Post #211 Auxiliary. She loved sewing and was a talented seamstress. She also enjoyed gardening flower and vegetable gardening, fishing and camping.

Memorial donations may be made to Oliver United Methodist Church or to Paul Warner Animal Rescue.
