Dwight Robinson

Dwight Russell Robinson, 81, of Paris, passed away at 4:41 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 29, 2023, at Carle Hospital, Urbana. He was a life-long farmer.

A service celebrating his life is 5 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 2, at Templeton Funeral Home. Visitation is from 3 p.m. until the time of the service Thursday at the funeral home.

Mr. Robinson was born March 14, 1941, in Kansas, the son of the late Benjamin D. and Dorothy Lovelass Robinson. He married Cynthia Jo McGee on July 21, 1996, at First United Methodist Church in Paris, and she survives.

Other survivors include two children, Candice (Candi) Strong of Wichita, Kan. and Roxanne (Brad) Jacobson of Denver, Colo.; two sisters, Ruthann Shurts of Urbana and Betty Jo Campbell of Houston, Texas; five grandchildren, Kylie, Billy, and Mitchell Sentilles, and Oliver and Kane Jacobson; many nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, Nugget.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Wayne and Howard Robinson, and two sisters, Jean Turner and Barbara Forbes Seymour.

Mr. Robinson was a graduate of Kansas High School and earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture from the University of Illinois. He was a member of First Christian Church of Paris where he had served in a number of capacities including usher and deacon and was currently serving as an elder. He was also a member of Casey Lodge #442 Ancient Free and Accepted Masons and the Edgar County Farm Bureau.

He loved farming and anything related to it and was an avid FFA supporter. In his spare time, he loved watching rodeos and NASCAR.
