Robert E. “Stew” Stewart, 55, Paris, passed away at 9:35 p.m. Friday, May 19, 2023, at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. He was a dispatcher for Edgar County 911 and Paris Police Department.
Graveside services are 10 a.m. Saturday, June 10, in Edgar Cemetery. Templeton Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Stewart was born July 10, 1967, in Clinton, Ind., the son of the late Claude M. Stewart and the late Alice M. Arrasmith Gordon.
Survivors include his siblings, Patricia Thomas of Paris, Pam (Mike) Henson of Paris, Teresa Thomas of Paris, Debra (Joe) Biemick of Paris, Julia (Steve) Riley of Clinton, Tammy (Tony) Gilbert of Paris and Timmy (Sherri) Smith of Paris; numerous nieces and nephews; and several close friends.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Steve Petticrew; and his companion for over 20 years, Teresa England.
Mr. Stewart had worked at Boge North America, then later as a dispatcher. His reassuring voice and compassionate demeanor were a comfort when he was called upon to dispatch emergency services.
He loved the Chicago Cubs and the Dallas Cowboys.
Mr. Stewart enjoyed golfing and had a deep love for his dogs.
Memorial donations may be made to the Edgar County Animal Shelter.
