Wanda Maxine Hofmann Burgess, 85, Paris, passed away at 9:55 a.m. Saturday, March 18, 2023, surrounded by family.

A funeral service is 1 p.m. Thursday, March 23, at Stewart and Carroll Funeral Home. Burial follows in Barr-Johnson Cemetery. A visitation is from 11 a.m. until the time of the service Thursday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Burgess was born on Sep. 4, 1937, the daughter of the late Allan H. and Phyllis Davis Hofmann. She married Connie Lee Burgess on Dec. 18, 1958, at First Christian Church in Paris, and he survives.

Other survivors are, her children, Stacy Lynn (Glenn) Strow of Paris and Stefanie Lee (Jeff) Turner of Homer; her granddaughters, Kirstin (Lucas) Mills of Paris and Katrina Strow of Paris; and her great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her siblings, Gayla Arlene Hofmann, Roy Allan Hofmann and Anita Kay High.

Mrs. Burgess, a lifelong resident of Paris, graduated from Paris High School with the class of 1955. She remained active in her community through her work at the Compassionate Food Pantry, and her time as a member of the Otterbein United Methodist Church.

She enjoyed many things during her life, but above all else, she enjoyed being a wife to Connie, a mother to their daughters and a grandmother to her grandchildren and great grandchildren, in which she was always thrilled to babysit.

Memorial donations may be made to Otterbein United Methodist Church or The Compassionate Food Pantry.
