On April 13, 2026, the Paris Police Department released a statement announcing the arrest of three individuals in connection with the incident at White Oaks Park in Paris on Friday, April 3.

The Paris Police Department is investigating an incident involving a firearm that occurred late Friday, April 3, at White Oaks Park in Paris.
According to an official press release issued by the department on April 4, officers responded to the park after receiving multiple 911 calls at approximately 11:30 p.m. on April 3, that described a “disturbance with a firearm.”
“Upon arrival, officers secured the scene and requested EMS to provide medical treatment to an injured male subject,” the statement read.
Authorities have not released additional details regarding the extent of the male’s injuries, names of individuals involved or the circumstances leading up to the incident.
Danville Alderman Jaleel Jones identified himself and two relatives as the victims of the incident during the April 7 Danville City Council meeting. Jones clarified in a later statement to The Vermillion Times that he nor his family were the injured party.
The Prairie Press has submitted Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests to the Paris Police Department and the Edgar County Sheriff’s Office and are currently awaiting those records.
