Paris schools announce official e-learning plans

Following a three-day school closure due to weather, all schools in Paris have approved e-learning plans. An email sharing the new update for the various schools was sent to parents and guardians on Tuesday, Feb. 3.

According to the e-mail, Crestwood School, schools in Paris-Union District 95 and Paris Cooperative High School “have all approved e-learning plans that could be used during severe winter conditions. If weather requires schools to close buildings, students will continue learning from home rather than using traditional snow days.”

District officials said any decision to move to an e-learning day will be communicated through the same channels normally used for school closure announcements at each school.

On designated e-learning days, students will not report to school buildings.

Learning plans will vary slightly by district and grade level:

  • District 95 students will receive paper enrichment packets to complete at home.
  • Crestwood students in preschool through fifth grade will also be provided with paper enrichment packets.
  • Crestwood students in sixth through eighth grade will complete assignments using their school-issued ThinkPads.
  • Paris Cooperative High School students will access their lessons and assignments through Google Classroom.

School leaders noted that principals will share additional guidance if e-learning days are needed, and teachers will provide all necessary learning materials and instructions.

The districts all emphasized that the plans are designed to maintain continuity of learning while keeping students and staff safe during hazardous winter weather.

Additional information can be obtained and questions answered by contacting a student's school and speaking with staff.
