Three vehicles involved in Route 1 accident

Posted

A three-vehicle accident shut down the east lane of state Route 1 on the northern edge of Paris on Friday, Feb. 23. The four occupants in the vehicles did not sustain any major injuries and received treatment and evaluations on-scene.

The incident was first reported to dispatchers just before 8 a.m., just after multiple vehicles collided on the stretch of road between Pool’s TrueValue and Animal Family Vet Care Center of Paris. Horizon Health EMS, the Paris Fire Department, the Edgar County Sheriff’s Department and the Paris Police Department responded to the scene.

The cause of the accident was not immediately clear at the scene of the incident.

Several vehicle occupants were evaluated on-site, but none were transported to a hospital via ambulance.

Law enforcement, firefighters and tow trucks began working shortly after the wreck to clear the vehicles off the road and allow normal traffic to resume.

This is a developing story. The Prairie Press will provide additional information if and when it becomes available.
