Elite Sport and Spine expansion blends homegrown pride with high-level rehab care

In 2023, Dr. Cam Elmore opened Elite Spine and Sport in Clinton, Ind. Now, he is investing back into the community that helped raise and support him by expanding his clinic to Paris, right on the square.

“My inspiration for taking on this expansion was to not only improve our ability to treat patients, but come back home to the community that I was raised in,” Elmore said. “In the new facility, I’ll be able to bring a new level of musculoskeletal rehab to our community,  with the space to do physical therapy style rehabilitation along with Chiropractic Care, we will be able to provide higher-level care to the community.”

The new space, the former Edgar County Treasurer’s office on Central Avenue, will also enable Elmore to offer rehabilitation-based treatment plans, similar to those found in a physical therapy clinic.

“We also have the ability to increase our outreach in the youth sports performance aspect,” Elmore said. “Now that I’ll have my own gym tailored to those athletes, we will hopefully start to see improvements in our athletic success in Paris.”

According to Elmore, sports performance training entails things different than what most people think of when they think about exercise.

“To make things more transferable to athletics, it’s important to not only get stronger, but to also become more explosive, faster and more agile by using things such as sprints, jumps, bounds, etc,” he explained. “If you leave those out of a sports performance program, then all you have is strength, which only gets you so far. True musculoskeletal health is regained through function, and having the ability to do exercises and strength training to improve function. We will be able to provide longer-lasting benefits, and truly help people living a healthier life.”

As a lifelong athlete and sports medicine specialist, Elmore said he is especially passionate about helping fellow athletes perform at their best and recover stronger.

“My training and experience extend far beyond sports — I’m here to serve patients of all ages and activity levels, from weekend warriors to everyday workers, retirees and beyond,” he said. His training includes an undergraduate degree from Eastern Illinois University, and both a Doctorate of Chiropractic and a Master’s in Sports Science and Rehabilitation from Logan College of Chiropractic in St. Louis.

His education and passion have mixed to provide a career he loves, and a future that will benefit the community he grew up in as he and his team work to expand services at the new location.

Since announcing plans to expand last week, Elmore said the responses on social media have been “amazing.”

“I was floored at the overwhelming support that we were shown, even it was through Facebook. If there’s one thing about Paris, it’s that we support our own, and I expect it to be that way when we open our doors as well,” he said.

With the support of Aubrey Sanders, a “major part of his life,” Elmore is passionate about giving back to the community that raised him.

“For us to have the ability to be the face of a business on the square of the town we grew up in is pretty special for us. We care about this community a lot, and we’re very proud to be joining the small businesses of Paris,” Elmore said, noting that Sanders will not be working at the new location.

“I’m sure we will add new services as we go, but as of now, we have a lot on our plate to begin with,” Elmore said. “I’d love to have an open house when everything is completed, to let the community come in and see what we’ve built. I’m pretty stoked about the design, and if it all comes together, I think it’ll be a really cool addition to Paris.”

At the moment, Elmore isn’t sure when the renovations will conclude, due to “a couple moving parts,” but he is hopeful the doors to Elite Spine and Sport’s newest location will be open “sooner rather than later.”
