Swift response by Paris Fire Department saves restaurant

Paris firefighters, first responders and local police officers responded to reports of smoke and flames at the local Hardees on S. Main, just after 11 a.m. on June 3.

The restaurant was swiftly evacuated and no injuries were reported. Response to the scene was immediate and firefighters subdued the blaze in mere minutes.

Police officers and fire personnel on the scene report the cause of the fire as grease in the exhaust attached to a charbroiler. Fire safety measures (an extinguish plug) were not enacted by employees.

After arriving on the scene firefighters worked in unison to pull the charbroiler’s extinguisher plug and put out a small interior fire as laddermen put out the exhaust fire on the roof.

Fire investigators have requested all maintenance paperwork of the exhaust for the past year from Hardee’s staff.

The establishment is closed until approval for reopening is made by the health department and all fire prevention hardware is replaced.
